How To Organize Your Kitchen

Whether you’ve just moved to a brand new house, you’re remodeling your kitchen, or simply just want to tidy up your space, we’ll cover everything you need to know about how to organize your kitchen to its fullest potential.

Breaking Down the Basics of Kitchen Organization

While kitchen organization can take some time to master, we’re here to provide you with helpful tips that will make a world of difference in your home.

1). Color coordination

From your cookbooks to your cookware, color coordinating is an artful way to organize and brighten up your shelves and cabinets at the same time. Plus, we offer Tresco cabinet lighting that will allow your colorful kitchen to shine at its fullest.

2). Minimalize your cabinets & drawers

There’s no right or wrong answer as to how to organize kitchen cabinets, but we suggest minimizing your collection down to the essentials. For example, instead of having bottles and bottles of spices, try placing them in individual mason jars that can all fit on one or two shelves. If you’re searching for ways to optimize your cabinet space, we have an array of helpful products ranging from cookware and bakeware organizers to pull-out shelves, drawers, and baskets that will make all the difference when it comes to opening up your kitchen. Corner cabinets can be tricky, but with a half moon organizer, you’ll forget you even worried about space. If your plates and bowls happen to match the vibe of your kitchen, you can stack them on the countertop or on an open-shelf instead of stowing them away and taking up more space.

3). Label everything

When you’re in the middle of cooking dinner, the last thing you want to do is have to go hunting for the next ingredient. Labels are an efficient way to organize everything in your kitchen—plus, you can always place the labels on the top of the jar, making everything easier to find if your jars are tucked away in a drawer.

4). Make the most of your lower kitchen cabinets

First, start by taking everything out of your cabinets so that you know exactly what you have to work with. While they’re empty, why not give them a quick cleaning? Then, decide what you want to keep in each cabinet and where you’d like them to go—we suggest dedicating one cabinet for pots and one for pans—right near the stove. If you’re worried about not having enough space, then a Lazy Susan shelf is just what you need.

Our Favorite Kitchen Hacks to Help You Organize Your Space

Simple kitchen hacks can make such an impact on maximizing your storage space. Now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s talk more about helpful hacks and kitchen storage DIY ideas that can turn a smaller kitchen into a spacious oasis.

1). Make freezer shelves with magazine holders

One of the biggest kitchen struggles we all face is not having enough storage space in the freezer. By placing magazine holders on their sides in the freezer, you’ll create shelf space that can be used to organize the smaller and flatter items.

2). Use lemon and salt to clean your wooden cutting boards

While your wooden cutting board may look clean after rinsing it at first glance, it might still have some grime on the surface. To freshen up your cutting board, carefully sprinkle some coarse salt on it and use half a lemon to scrub it down. After letting it sit for about 5 minutes, scrape the liquid off and then rinse it with some water—the difference you’ll see is well worth it!

3). Try using a tension rod to hang your cleaning products

The under-sink cabinet rarely has enough space to hold all of your cleaning supplies in an organized way. Try hanging a tension rod at the top and allow the spray bottles to hang from it instead of stacking them on the bottom.

4). Expand your pantry

Not enough space in the pantry for all of your spices? Try building a pull-out pantry from one of your cabinets or a few spice racks that can hang on an open wall.
