Powered by Universal Security Instruments' patented Sensing Plus Multi-Criteria Detection Technology, this photoelectric smoke alarm accurately identifies both slow-burning smoldering fires and fast-flaming fires while helping to reduce nuisance alarms from everyday cooking smoke and shower steam. The hardwired 120V AC connection with 10-year embedded alkaline battery backup provides uninterrupted protection during power outages for the full service life of the alarm. Interconnection capability links this alarm to compatible USI devices throughout the home - when one alarm sounds, every connected device sounds together, delivering critical early warning across every level. The Quick-Find Alarm Origination feature identifies which alarm triggered the event, saving critical time during an emergency. Compact 5.6 inch diameter profile mounts flush to ceiling or wall. Compliant with UL 217 and ETL listed. Ideal for new residential construction, multifamily buildings, rental property upgrades, and contractors replacing legacy hardwired smoke alarms.

Top Features

Sensing Plus Multi-Criteria Detection: Patented technology accurately identifies both slow-burning smoldering fires and fast-flaming fires while reducing nuisance alarms from cooking smoke and shower steam.

Hardwired 120V AC with 10-Year Battery Backup: Continuous protection during power outages for the full service life of the alarm, with embedded alkaline AA batteries (included, non-replaceable).

Interconnectable Alarm Network: Links to compatible USI alarms throughout the home - when one alarm sounds, every connected device sounds together for synchronized early warning.

Quick-Find Alarm Origination: Easily pinpoints which alarm triggered the event, saving critical response time during an emergency.

Photoelectric Sensor Technology: Optimized for smoldering fires that are the leading cause of residential fire fatalities; conforms to UL 217 and ETL listed for professional installation.

Specification

Value

Model Number

USI/SM/HW10YR

Alarm Type

Smoke and Fire Alarm (Hardwired with 10-Year Battery Backup)

Sensor Type

Photoelectric

Detection Technology

Sensing Plus Multi-Criteria Detection

Power Source

Hardwired 120V AC with 10-Year Battery Backup

Battery Chemistry

Alkaline AA (included, embedded, non-replaceable)

Battery Life

10 Years

Interconnectivity

Yes - compatible with other USI interconnectable alarms

Quick-Find Alarm Origination

Yes

Dimensions

5.6 inch W x 1.6 inch H x 5.6 inch D

Safety Listing

ETL

Safety Standards

UL 217

Maintenance Alert

Replace the fire alarm if it is exposed to heat, flames, heavy smoke or water

Pack Quantity

1

Manufacturer

Universal Security Instruments (USI)

Warranty

10-Year Limited

Universal Security Instruments (USI) is a leading U.S. designer and manufacturer of residential fire and life-safety alarms, headquartered in Owings Mills, Maryland.
